Privacy Policy

Who we are

Nev is made by Launchbored (“we”, “us”), based in Victoria, Australia. This policy explains how we handle personal information across the Nev desktop app (on Mac now, with Windows to come), the Nev iPhone companion app (coming soon) and this website.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. For anything about privacy, email kirby@launchbored.com.

What stays on your computer

Nev is built to work locally. The following are stored on your own computer, and we don’t receive them:

  • your projects and files
  • goals, plans and chats
  • your Nevs and their memory
  • activity, logs and backups.

Keys and sign-in tokens for the services you connect are encrypted on your device using your operating system’s secure storage (the macOS Keychain on a Mac). Your AI plans’ own apps keep their sign-ins themselves: Claude Code and Gemini in their usual places, and ChatGPT in the Keychain (a ChatGPT sign-in made with an earlier version of Nev stays in a private file only your account can read until you next sign in). Disconnecting Google in Nev also asks Google to cancel Nev’s access.

Nev checks for updates about every six hours by downloading a small, signed list of releases from GitHub. That request doesn’t include anything about you or your work.

Your AI provider

Your Nevs do their thinking through the AI subscription you connect: ChatGPT through OpenAI Codex, Claude through Anthropic’s Claude Code, or Gemini through Google’s Gemini CLI.

To carry out a request, Nev sends the relevant content to that provider under your own account and that provider’s terms. This can include your briefs, excerpts of files, web pages a Nev reads, and emails you’ve asked a Nev to work on. We don’t receive this content and aren’t a party to that exchange. The provider’s own privacy policy applies to it.

Optional voice and images

Some extras use services you add yourself: ElevenLabs and OpenAI voice keys, and image generation through your ChatGPT plan or OpenAI key. When you use them, Nev sends the relevant text or prompts to that provider. They’re off until you turn them on.

Services you connect

When you connect services, for example Shopify, Stripe, Meta Ads, Canva, Xero or WordPress, Nev exchanges data with them to do what you ask. Anything that sends, publishes, spends or changes something waits for your approval. Those services’ own terms, privacy policies and fees apply.

How Nev uses Google user data (Gmail, Calendar and Drive)

One Google sign-in connects Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive. Google lets you untick any of them, and Nev only uses what you allow. Nev asks for these permissions:

  • gmail.readonly, to read the messages and threads you ask a Nev to work on
  • gmail.compose, to prepare drafts and send the emails you’ve approved
  • calendar.events.owned, to see the events on calendars you own, and to add, change or delete events and reply to invitations when you’ve approved it
  • drive, to find and read the files you ask a Nev to work on, and, when you’ve approved it, to save files, make folders, and rename, move or bin files in your Drive
  • openid and email, to know which Google account you connected.

Your mail, events and files are processed on your device. To do a task, the relevant content may be sent to the AI provider you chose (see Your AI provider). Sending an email, adding, changing or deleting an event (including inviting guests or replying to an invitation) and saving, moving, renaming or binning Drive files always wait for your approval. Nev never shares your Drive files or deletes them permanently; binned files can be restored from Drive’s bin for 30 days.

Information Nev receives from Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive is:

  • not sold
  • not used for advertising
  • not used by us to train AI models
  • not read by people, except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires.

Nev's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove Nev’s access at any time in Nev’s Connections settings, or from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Nev accounts

Nev accounts are optional and are used for teams and plans. If you create one, we keep:

  • your name and email
  • your organisations and roles, and invitations
  • the names and descriptions of projects you choose to share
  • messages posted in shared project channels
  • the names of your registered Nevs.

Passwords are handled by our authentication provider, and we never see them. Account data is hosted with Supabase and may be stored in Australia or overseas. We take reasonable steps to protect it.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your card number. From Stripe we receive your plan, its status, its renewal date, the number of seats and a Stripe customer reference.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email and where on the site you joined, with Supabase. We use it only to tell you when the Mac app is ready. To be removed, email us at any time.

This website

This website has no analytics and no tracking or advertising cookies. It’s hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs.

iPhone pairing

The iPhone companion connects to your own Mac over your local network or VPN. That data travels between your devices, not through us.

How long we keep things

  • On your computer: until you delete it.
  • Account data: until your account is deleted.
  • The waitlist: until launch, or until you ask to leave.
  • Billing records: as long as the law requires. Under Australian tax law, that’s generally five to seven years.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email kirby@launchbored.com. Information stored only on your computer is already in your hands: you can change or delete it there at any time.

If you’re in Australia and unhappy with how we’ve handled a privacy request or complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

People elsewhere may have similar rights under their local law, and we’ll respond to those requests too.

Children

Nev isn’t meant for children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If you have a Nev account, we’ll tell you about material changes.
